How To Be A Knowledgeable E-cig Buyer

Posted in cigarrette by Christine @ May 22, 2012

Ready to make the switch to electronic cigarettes? That's great. Choosing the right starter kit is important. The web is a great place to research that. But, you'll need to be careful.

Fortunately, there are many good resources for learning about e-cigarettes. The downside is there are more sites that just want to make a quick buck than want to help you pick something good.

The e-cigarette market is expanding faster than anyone could have imagined. Estimates put users of the gear in the US at about 1 million. That kind of growth means that there are hundreds of companies competing for your hard-earned dollar. There are also hundreds of e-cigarette review sites and blogs. Many are good pages run by consumers of the devices and contributors. To see what I'm talking about check out this link.

The bad news is that for every site like that one, there are many more sites looking to take advantage of you. Some sites will even claim their reviews are unbiased. But, are they telling you the truth?

A number of these sites are obviously designed just to try to sell you something. Other sites do a better job and have a very professional look to them. In most cases, there are warning signs even in the very slick sites. If you know where to look, you won't be fooled.

Here's a couple of pointers to consider as you browse e-cigarette reviews:

  • Are there outrageous claims of health benefits?
  • How much detail is in the review?
  • Does the articles list both the pros and cons?

E-cigarette reviews can be a useful source to find a great product for you. However, you have to make sure what the site suggests makes sense to you and your preferences.

Ask yourself a lot of questions when browsing a new e-cigarette review site. Does the site just stick to a handful of starter kits or are there a variety of brands and models of devices? What about articles that aren't reviews? Be wary if the site features just a few reviews of a handful of brands and not much else.

Look at several sites. If you see the same starter kits reviewed on several different sites with little variation, that should be a clue.

How are the reviews? Are there details, or just the highlights you'd find on the side of a box? Is there any mention of their motivations on the review? Do they disclose there's a monetary incentive? There's nothing wrong with that, but they should be transparent about it. A good site will also review a product whether or not they can make any money off it.

Is the author active? Does he or she answer reader questions in the post comments? Are there even comments allowed?

Lastly, be wary of any site that makes exaggerated claims. Exaggerated health claims are one of the biggest warning signs. Any review that declares something the best product may be over-inflating things a little.

The bottom line is doing your homework will save you a lot of heartache and expense when buying a new e-cigarette starter kit.
