Is the quality of BBC reporting sinking to a new low?
Last week we were treated to Huw Edwards announcing that the greatest threat to animal marine life and the 'world' was the plastic bag. Introducing a reporter collecting rubbish along the beach where the only plastic bag was the one they were putting the rubbish in.
Today we were treated to Kate Silverton announcing that manufacturing prices from our factories were under threat from the increase in prices of feul (ok) tobacco and Alcohol!!??
Can it all be blamed on the autocue or should we expect a greater level of intellectual grasp of the issues of the day from our news readers?
The standard on R4 and World Service is still high.
Where can you buy Peter Jackson cigarettes in the us. It is Australian brand but are there any shops in NY who sell those cigarettes???
International brands of cigarettes are available in New York City, but only in some specialty tobacconists stores- you probably won't find them in your average cigarette and newstand store on the corner.
And, bear in mind that the Peter Jacksons you find in the USA might not taste the same as the ones back home, because they'll probably be Canadian. For example, when I was in Europe a while back and bought a pack of Marlboros, they were NOTHING whatsoever like American Marlboros, because they were made in the Balkans, and they tasted like burning rubber. Yuck!
Good luck, and the links below are to a directory of tobacconists in New York City, and a history of the Peter Jackson brand, too...
