Piece Pollen

Has anyone seen the white strings falling from the sky?
They are like long white strings and break into pieces as they fall then they sort of disappear. It's not pollen because it comes from way up high/
These are strands of spider silk (sometimes called "gossamer").
Many small spiders use silk threads for "ballooning" - the scientific term for the dynamic kiting some spiderlings use to travel. The spiders extrude several threads into the air and let themselves be carried away by the wind.
These threads can end up high in the atmosphere when conditions are right, and will eventually return to Earth when a upper-level low-pressure system moves into the area.
Some mites and caterpillars also "balloon" with silk threads.
