They also based their artwork on colored portraits on afterlife predictions. Their love for Nature can also be seen in their art.

Ancient Egyptian Antiquities: Art Forms

The Egyptians displayed their creativity through many types of art forms. These include:

Mummy Cases: The Egyptians believed that the human body had an afterlife. So, it had to be kept in a beautiful place as sarcophagus. They used to make mummy cases for kings, queens and other important figures.

Relief Art: The Egyptians made relief art by carving a picture into layers to provide it with a raised effect. A variety of their daily life activities were depicted through reliefs. These activities could be dancing or feasting. Soft limestone was used to make reliefs in the Old and Middle Kingdom. Later they started using sandstone in the New Kingdom.

Statues: The Egyptians were very fond of making statues of gods, deities, queens and pharaohs. Their statues were made in various sizes and conveyed their beliefs.

Paintings and drawings: A popular Egyptian style was to paint important people larger than others, depicting the front view of their heads. Also, the top half of the body and eyes were shown from the front, whereas their legs and arms were painted from the side.

Jewelry: Ancient Egyptian jewelry is also called the jewelry of the dead. Various methods of jewelry making were:
