Why is it that the UK government is so keen to increase price of cigarettes but alcohol STILL GETS IGNORED!?

i mean its not like you get 3 for the price of 2 offers on packs of silk cut? is it? They are happy to do this with tobacco even tho alcohol is more damaging than ecstacy! Increase the cost of alcohol FOR A CHANGE! lol

Or why do the Government not just accept that people who smoke know the risks and continue to smoke, and people who drink know the risks and continue to drink?

Taxes on cigarettes and / or alcohol benefit no-one but the government, because generally the people who take part in these types of activities are not going to be deterred by a price rise, just annoyed.

I don't really agree with the point you're making though, why not just reduce the price of cigarettes, rather than continuing to pay over the odds for cigarettes but demanding that alcohol goes up in price too?

I'm just going to presume you are an annoyed smoker who doesn't drink!
